Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies that result function. Columbia Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. If you contact us, the message and address you provide are used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services may create standard logs such as IP address, browser type, referring page, time of visit, and requested URL. This information helps secure and operate the service. It is not used to build a resident profile.
How Limited Data Is Used
Submitted contact information is used to answer the message. Technical information is used for reliability, security, and aggregate understanding of site use. We do not sell personal information or intentionally combine search inputs into a people database.
Links and Search Providers
Official portals, libraries, and search providers linked from this reference run under their own privacy practices. Review the policy of the outside service before entering personal information, ordering a record, or opening an account. We do not control their availability or handling of data.
When Data May Be Shared
Information is not rented or sold. It may be disclosed to a hosting, security, or communications provider that needs it to operate the service, or where a valid legal obligation requires disclosure. Those providers receive only the information necessary for their role.
Security Practices
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for the limited data handled here. No online transmission or storage method is completely secure. Do not send Social Security numbers, payment-card information, government identification, or other sensitive documents through a general contact message.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us through the Contact page to request review.
Your Privacy Choices
Missouri does not have a comprehensive consumer privacy or data-broker deletion statute identified in the research for this project. Privacy protections are source-specific: RSMo 610.032 and 610.024 address Sunshine Law closures and segregation, RSMo 610.035 limits Social Security-number disclosure, and RSMo 115.157 covers voter information and protected addresses. Vital records remain restricted under RSMo 193.245, RSMo 193.255, and 19 CSR 10-10. For a record held by a government custodian, request correction, redaction, or protection from that custodian rather than expecting this reference to alter the source. Missouri Safe at Home may be available for qualifying address-confidentiality participants.
Policy Updates
Changes will be posted here with the revised policy text. Continuing to use Columbia Residents Directory after a revision means the updated policy applies to future use.
